Meet Dr. Michelle Peifley-Serio
Dentistry gives me the opportunity to help people in my community. I enjoy earning each patient's trust by showing compassion and providing quality dentistry. I work with every patient to help them understand their oral health so we can make the best decisions about their treatment together. My team and I aim to create a calm, supportive atmosphere and provide an exceptional patient experience.
I love what I do, and I appreciate my patients and the team I work with. Great results are a product of great relationships.
— Dr. Michelle
Education and Professional Activities
Dr. Michelle Peifley-Serio was awarded her Doctorate of Dental Surgery by the University of Maryland Dental School in 1994. She completed a rigorous general practice residency at Evanston Hospital.
Prior to dental school, Dr. Michelle completed a Bachelor of Science in dental hygiene at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia and a Master of Science in dental hygiene at the University of Maryland.
In order to offer the most effective care and stay current on the latest techniques, Dr. Michelle regularly completes continuing education courses that go above and beyond what is required. She is an active member of the Spear Study Group, a monthly multidisciplinary gathering of oral healthcare practitioners. The members review various case studies together, to share and learn from each other.
While practicing full-time at Savin Dental, Dr. Michelle returned to her roots as a dental hygienist and supervised the Dental Hygiene Clinic at Fox College in Bedford Park for three years, ending in May 2018.
Dr. Michelle has been with Savin Dental since 1996 as an associate and became a partner in the practice in 2019.
Beyond the Office
A native of Orwigsburg in east-central Pennsylvania, Dr. Michelle and her husband, Stephen Serio, a professional photographer, now live in Ravinia, where they raised two sons. Sam attends Northeastern University in Boston and Jack is at Villanova University in Philadelphia.
New to being an “empty-nester,” Dr. Michelle has replaced a lot of the school-parent activities that supported her sons’ schools with broader community-based involvement. She volunteers for Connections for the Homeless in Evanston, preparing and serving food for their residents each month. She is also a member of Lion’s Club International, an organization that helps people who are sight- and hearing-impaired. Recently, she became a board member of the Glencoe Historical Society.
Dr. Michelle’s mantra, as her family and friends will attest, is “It’s a round world.” She does not give of her time and energy expecting anything in return. Rather, she realizes her many good fortunes and feels the need to give back.
